Inland boundary arbitration

Acting for Dubai in an international arbitration concerning the land and sea boundary between Dubai and Sharjah.

The inland boundary runs almost entirely through desert. Evidence of control was scarce. Two and a half years of work on the subject included interviewing Bedouin, extensive research of the India Office Records, the Admiralty Library and old air photographs, making a new map of the desert and interviewing three ruling sovereigns.
