Arbitration is a growing area of Landmark’s UK and international practice. Over ten of our barristers are either Members or Fellows of the Chartered Institution of Arbitrators, several having been awarded the CIArb’s Advanced Certificate in International Arbitration. We also have nine Members of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators. A number of our senior QCs also sit as arbitrators.
We offer representation in arbitrations worldwide in disputes which apply or are informed by English law and/or public international law, focusing principally although not exclusively on the industry sectors highlighted on this website.
We are particularly well placed to assist on investment treaty arbitrations, where we are able to draw on our long-standing expertise in acting for and against state bodies in the fields of compulsory acquisition, human rights and public law, and on our experience in the field of public international law. Our international arbitration experience includes:
- An arbitration in Beijing relating to the sale and purchase of a substantial restaurant business in China.
- Several arbitrations relating to rent reviews of high value commercial premises in Hong Kong.
- The Dubai/Sharjah Boundary Arbitration, relating to the land and sea boundaries between the two emirates.
